Professor Zhou has spent his career on the development and clinical application of immunotherapeutic drugs for solid tumours. His work has been published in Nature, Cell, Nature Medicine, Cell Research, JCI and PNAS, and several of his patents have been licensed for translation.
He led the development of three new immunotherapeutic approaches — individualised TCR-T cell therapy, TCR-T cell therapy designed to reverse the immunosuppressive solid-tumour microenvironment, and TAL-T cell therapy — which have entered phase I clinical trials.
